White tea vs oolong
Two categories often described as delicate, only one of which actually is. The confusion comes from colour rather than from character.

What is being compared
Point by point
| Aspect | White tea | Oolong |
|---|---|---|
| Processing | Withered and dried. Nothing else. | The most elaborate processing in tea — bruising, partial oxidation, shaping, often roasting. |
| Body | Genuinely light, and easy to under-brew. | Anywhere from light to very full. |
| Aroma | Subtle — hay, melon, honey. | Often the most aromatic tea there is. |
| Brewing | More forgiving than its reputation, and wants hotter water than people give it. | Wants attention, especially strip-rolled styles. |
The short answer
White tea is delicate; oolong only sometimes is. Anyone who found a light oolong too aromatic will likely prefer white tea, and the reverse holds too.
