Cameron Highlands
A montane plateau in Pahang, cleared for tea from the late 1920s and still the source of almost all Malaysian production. At around 1,500 metres the climate is cool and permanently humid with year-round growth, and the steep terraced gardens are harvested by hand shear and by machine. The tea is a straightforward brisk black leaf built for milk and sugar, which is what the domestic market wants.
